The NRC issued an order today requiring an independent safety culture assessment to be performed at Indian Point.
Entergy spokeswoman Robyn Bentley said the company "continues to work on improving our safety culture. We have trained our supervisors and managers on the elements of a healthy safety culture. Surveys show our work force has a strong safety culture."
I think this highlights the difference between training on safety culture elements versus the implementation of those elements in day-to-day operations. In addition I think it is becoming increasingly apparent that safety culture surveys do not provide accurate "fixes" on safety culture but may only point to areas of relative weakness that merit further investigation.
